Jack Nicholson to play the 'Ford' role in Soderbergh's TRAFFIC'

Hey folks, I've been hearing from the underbrush from the likes of Meester Zesterhaus and the Pied Piper of Hollywood, that Jack Nicholson is currently the leading candidate for the role vacated by Harrison Ford, then pursued by Kevin Costner and Michael Douglas in TRAFFIC. If he nails the role, this will be quite a coup for Nicholson, and the part will force him to not play Jack Nicholson, as this character is quite a bit different. Also the advance age difference between him and his daughter will further accentuate the distance that Father and Daughter have in the film. Personally I think this is the best name yet linked to the role. Let's see where the musical chair role will stop.
As one talk backer mentions below... Michael Douglas was announced as being in negotiations for the role, to being very close to signing. And we know that he's up for a role in OCEAN'S 11 (also by Soderbergh). So what is this rumor? Well, I've had a pair of folks tell me this, though not someone attached to the production. Check it as one of those... maybe, could be, was possiblys...
