The Jack Ryan Reboot Loses Its Director!!

The Kidd here...

Paramount's reboot of the Jack Ryan series has been stalled for quite some time. The studio had hoped to get it into production at multiple points, but further script issues have continued to stunt progress in its development. Now it's paying the price for these delays in losing its director.

Jack Bender, who made a name for himself as an executive producer and lead director on LOST, has been forced to bow out from behind the camera for the film that had been known tentatively as MOSCOW. Bender has seen his other TV commitments pile up while waiting for the reboot to get the go-ahead - executive producting Fox's ALCATRZ, directing Syfy's REWIND pilot - that the window for his involvement has closed, says Variety

The goal is still to start shooting the film once STAR TREK 2 wraps, to bring Chris Pine on as the fourth version of Jack Ryan, but, who knows if the script will be ready to go even by then? With a new director now to be found, there's no guarantees that the next candidate won't want another rewrite of his/her own on the material.
