So the whole versus thing didn't work out too well for us with COWBOYS AND ALIENS, but that isn't going to stop Paramount from taking their best shot at matching up two opponents from opposite ends of the spectrum, which is why we're getting BOY SCOUTS VS. ZOMBIES.
Etan Cohen, who penned the script for MEN IN BLACK III and was part of the writing team behind the highly regarded TROPIC THUNDER, is getting his shot to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter, heading behind the camera to debut with the Carrie Evans/Emi Mochizuki script that made 2010's Black List of the Hollywood's top unmade screenplays.
Lona Williams (DROP DEAD GORGEOUS) is being brought on for a rewrite that Cohen will watch over, but is there really any concern that someone could screw up the concept of boy scouts versus zombies at some point along the way?
Jeff Sneider from Variety further clarified the film's plot, which would follow three high school boy scouts who take on a zombie invasion in their town using only the skills with which they've earned badges for.
I'm getting a MONSTER SQUAD type of vibe here, and, as long as they keep it fun, and not bog it down into the seriousness that ultimately killed COWBOYS AND ALIENS, we have have one helluva movie on our hands.
