The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day must get revenge.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!

The subgenre of “revenge flick” is one of my favorites. We used to be the best at ‘em, going back to our roots in the western and film noir. It kind of came to a head in the ‘60s and ‘70s in some amazing crime dramas with Point Blank possibly being the king because it’s a revenge movie that really isn’t about getting even, but about just squaring away his fair cut of the loot.

Our revenge movie output seems to linger in direct to video hell at the moment (minus a few big budget exceptions, mostly directed by Quentin Tarantino), but overseas they’re cranking ‘em out! Chan-wook Park in S. Korea and Johnnie To in Hong Kong jump to mind.

Since I don’t have any shots of Chan-wook Park working (if any badass shots of him directing exist, I’d love to see them, so email away if you have any), I’m going to make one particular talkbacker happy and run his requested shot of Johnnie To directing 2009’s Vengeance. If you haven’t seen the flick, crack open your Netflix Instant and give it a run. It’s a pretty damn cool flick.

Thanks to Mike for sending this one along. Click to enlargen!

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.

Tomorrow’s pic is from an underappreciated sequel. Hint: it features a very nice rendition of an old Sinatra classic.
