* Tonight’s “Dead” is not as good as the last one. It’s more like the first two installments of 2012, full of talk and more talk. Mostly it’s Dale wandering around the farm trying to stay the one-legged stranger’s execution, but there’s also a lot of chitchat about little Carl’s troubling behavior.
* But it’s not quite all talk. The episode begins with some of that enhanced interrogation we’ve been seeing in AMC’s promos.
* The episode also boasts the biggest ending in some time. Its final line of dialog: “Sorry, brother."

Tonight’s installment of “Luck” reminds me a lot of David Milch’s last series, “John From Cincinnati,” in that God tonight pays a visit to the stammering jockey agent played by Richard Kind. Plus Jurgen Prochnow joins the cast.
