Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
The movie already had me by the time Christina Hendricks showed up, but it was this sequence in the hotel room between her, Ryan Gosling and some men with shotguns that locked in DRIVE as one of my favorite movies of the year.
Which means, of course, it couldn’t possibly be nominated for anything (outside of Sound Editing) tonight. But at least it has that! I’ll forever scratch my head at how Take Shelter was completely locked out.
Alas, I don’t have a BTS pic of Michael Shannon internalizing self-doubt and fear of his own sanity, but I do have a nice shot of Gosling giving Hendricks the Finger of Doom from Drive. So, have at it Oscars! At the Quinty’s Take Shelter wins best actor, best sound editing and might be the dark horse to win best picture and Drive wins best soundtrack, best supporting actor (they made Albert Brooks scary, people), best use of shotguns in a movie, best kiss and the Robert Shaw award for best use of a toothpick in a Motion Picture.
