Well you've read two positive reviews of US MARSHALLS, well now here is the first negative one I've had. Now keep in mind this is a very advance screening, and the majority of reviews have been positive. Sooooo, does this mean you should discount this review? Well, probably not, this is the one negative in the many positives, but then if you've ever disagreed with others about film, this could very well be your opinion. Minority's opinions count too. But keep in mind that this was a VERY advance print of the film, inevitably there will be changes made, a soundtrack will be added, sound effects will intensify and this stuff really does change an action film.
Those two reviews of US Marshals were much too kind on that film. I can't believe they saw the saw film that I did. If you look at their reviews........they don't really speak that highly of the film.....they talk of a remake and not a sequel, undeveloped characters, predictability, that Con-Air sequence, the *many* similarities to 'The Fugitive', and neither mentioned why the hell Irene Jacob was in the film at all. But..both reviewers give the film highly positive reviews. This was by far one of the worst movie experiences that I've seen in a while and I saw Spiceworld. I don't think the people that read those test screening cards will be able to take my remarks seriously because....I really wasn't kind. There is nothing worth seeing in this film. You would think that an action editor would or could make a decent action film but.......this movie totally proves that theory wrong. The plot was so aggrivating. It was one of those things where it really didn't have a point other than trying to get you to the next scene. I must've said "Why don't they say something right now?" ..about 3 or 4 times. And if that isn't enough......IT HAS A TALKING KILLER!!!! Geeesh....leave that crap for the Bond films. He didn't even have to tell him what the plan was....it was completely unmotivated other than filling in the audience to the big gaping holes in the plot. Robert Downey....come on. What a terrible casting choice. A friend of mine has the script for this film and that character is written as a big hulking Howie Long type agent. Who ever thought Robert Downey would be good in this role should be sent to PA work.
This could go on for awhile but I'll stop here. I just wanted you to hear another review of this film. I was hoping to see someone write about this film.....I just never in my wildest dreams imagined that anyone would see this film as anything other than a complete waste of time. Actually the guy in front of me jokingly said that it was better than CON AIR.....but that isn't much of a compliment.
