ADDITIONAL INFO AND CORRECTION: SHOWEST - Tons of Pics from THE PATRIOT

Hey folks, Harry here. Today, we found out a couple of additional tidbits about THE PATRIOT. First off, the 'suit' that I overheard (further conversation, this time directly to him) was talking about the 'latest that he had heard.' Well... in addition, I got a note from Dean Devlin that clarifies the 'alleged overages'. This came from weather delays caused by well... inclimate weather. Also... He hadn't heard about a PG-13 vs R debate regarding the film. I'll probably bump into Dean at Wednesday's SONY EXTRAVAGANZA, so I'll get additional clarafications. But the latest I heard from yet another was that the film is very much set to be... R. Good. This movie has never been anything else... at least from the observance we've been making of the film, scripts, etc...

Hey folks, Harry here. While wandering about the registration area today, I overheard a couple of Sony folks yabbering about THE PATRIOT. And what these suits were talking about.. scared me just a bit and I hope they don't know what they are talking about. Word has it that the film went a tad over budget. Not because of shooting problems, but on the effects end.. realizing the horror of Revolutionary Warfare. This suit started laughing a bit about how stupid everything is because they have a great movie, but they are currently discussing the possibility of releasing the film as PG-13, and what would need to be cut is actually most of the expensive fx shots. Having read the script, I can tell you the scenes they are talking about are very very disturbing scenes. But folks... this was a scary war. Swords, unreal calibre of lead shells, cannon blasts into lines of people... To cut this stuff... would be akin to cleaning up that last scene in THE WILD BUNCH. It's there for an IMPACT... To show us the sacrifice made. Moriarty feels that if they decide to cut it to a PG 13, the movie will still be very good, and then we fans can be treated on a DVD release, though he'd prefer the full release... this type of self-censorship motivated by a profit minded corporation has to stop. This script was R-rated. Don't hedge the bet. BRAVEHEART broke $200 million worldwide with an R... GLADIATOR with an R will break that mark in two. Have some guts... keep them in.

and finally this image... which was about half the size of a postage stamp (reason for fuzziness) but man... again... it's beautiful
