The awesome Anthony Mackie, so charismatic in the better-than-it-should've been REAL STEEL and wholly memorable in THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU, is in talks to join Michael Bay's PAIN AND GAIN. He'd play alongside Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg in the picture. So says Variety.
PAIN AND GAIN, inspired by a real-life kidnapping/extortion attempt which backfires terribly, is relatively low-budget for a Bay movie - last I heard it was hovering around a $25 million pricetag? I wish I lived in a world where "25 million dollars" meant "low budget." PAIN AND GAIN will happen as Bay and The Powers That Be ramp up for the much-discussed TRANSFORMERS reboot, which we recently learned would feature a largely (if not entirely) new cast while adhering to the franchise's established (film) mythology.
