It's been talked about for a while, once Ridley Scott signed on to direct Cormac McCarthy's first original screenplay, THE COUNSELOR, but today it's official, according to Deadline: Michael Fassbender will be playing the lead, an attorney who gets in over his head when he starts to dabble in the drug business. Fassbender certainly knows how to visit the dark side, as his performance in SHAME proves, and I still think he was snubbed for that, by the way.
Rumor has it that actors like Jeremy Renner, Brad Pitt, and Bradley Cooper are circling the role of the villain of the piece, and Scott is looking at May 1st to start shooting. We'll be following this one closely - there's just too much cool involved for us not to be.
