Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
It may be my birthday, but I’m the one who has a present for you. Screwy, I know, but nobody’s ever accused me of being wired correctly.
Today we have a great shot of the group of illusionists gathered around attempting (and succeeding) to pull of one of cinema’s best magic tricks: the precedence-setting transformation scene in An American Werewolf In London. I’ve featured stills from this scene before and provided I find more I would definitely feature it again. It’s a monumental moment in film history and has become the template for any such scene that came after it.
I particularly like seeing the sticks for arms here because it never occurred to me they didn’t just build a full puppet for this shot. But of course they didn’t, the camera is only seen David’s back and the hands on the floor, no need to build the arms. I also like the dude in the plaid shirt seems to be giving the David puppet a prostate exam.
This is another one courtesy of the P.E.G. and I appreciate them digging it up! Enjoy and click to enlargen!
If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.
Tomorrow’s pic hasn’t been chosen yet, but will likely come from one of the mystery trailers or even the feature that’s running at my secret birthday screening tonight!
