"LOU REED: ROCK & ROLL HEART"

I don't even know who the hell is Lou Reed before seeing this movie, but now I know him well.

This is an extremely fascinating documentary detailing on the life of Louis Reed before and after enduring fame and success as a singer and lyricist with loads of interviews and never-before seen footages including the new 1997 concert footages. Famous rockers such as David Bowie, R.E.M., Talking Heads, and U2 cited Reed as the major influence on their musical artistries. Even numerous writers and artists like Andy Warhol and Jim Carroll of "Basketball Dairies" talked of how they were influenced by the man himself. It was intriguing getting to know Louis Reed who I've never heard of, and I don't know why. Rapid MTV-style editing and overlapping narrations were far more entertaining to watch than the usual "boring" documentaries usually seen on PBS. If you're a fan of Reed, this is a must-see. I even had my question answered whether or not "Lou Reed" will air on TV, and the director Timony Greenfield-Sanders has confirmed it will air on (?!) PBS on April 20th at 10:00pm ET. But unfortunately it will be edited into an hour length to accomodate the limited programming. That sucks. Anyway, be sure to mark your calendar on this one 'cause it's a real treat for your senses.
