“Bunheads,” the tale of a Las Vegas showgirl who moves to a small town to work in her mom’s dance studio, has been greenlit to series by ABC Family, acoording to Deadline Hollywood.
The new show’s creator is “Gilmore Girls” mastermind Amy Sherman-Palladino, who hasn’t had a series on the air since Fox’s very short lived 2008 laughtrack sitcom “The Return of Jezebel James,” which starred Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose.
The showgirl will be played by Tony-winning 36-year-old actress-singer-dancer Sutton Foster, who played Coco on three episodes of “Flight of the Conchords.”
“Gilmore Girls,” an acclaimed staple on The WB for seven years, closed shop in 2007, one year after Sherman-Palladino left the show.
