Steven Spielberg Will Part The Red Sea With A Moses Movie!

Nordling here.

So... LINCOLN, then ROBOPOCALYPSE, and then... Moses?  Yes, according to Deadline - Steven Spielberg is close to directing a film based on the life of Moses called GODS AND KINGS, which is being described as a BRAVEHEART-like telling of the Exodus story.  The idea of Spielberg doing this almost feels inevitable, doesn't it?  Don't get me wrong, I'll see anything the Beard makes for the rest of his life, but it's not like this is a story we haven't seen before.  But as Spielberg gets up there in age, it's possible he wants to go out with an epic film like this.

Apparently, according to the article, this will not be in 3D.  Warner Brothers wants Spielberg to direct this film with a sense of reality, a la SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.  Does this mean that we'll get a thousand extras instead of CGI?  Will this be Spielberg's real David Lean movie? (And yes, I'm aware that Cecil DeMille directed the original TEN COMMANDMENTS.)  It's a long way from when the Neary family was watching TEN COMMANDMENTS on television in CLOSE ENCOUNTERS to actually making a film based on Moses' life.

So... casting, anyone?  Who plays Moses?  Who plays Pharaoh?  Will this be the gritty epic that Warner Brothers wants?  Although I'm not much for Biblical stories, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited to see Spielberg tackle this one.  Genuinely fascinated about this movie.
