2011's BRIDESMAIDS was something of an unexpected hit, earning 'round $288 million off of a $32 million (ish) budget. Naturally, talk quickly turned to whether star Kristen Wiig and Co. would return for another go-round.
There has recently been some sense that The Powers That Be were, indeed, toying with launching another BRIDESMAIDS installment - and there have also been varied indications that a sequel wouldn't necessarily have to involve Wiig, the original film's writer and lead.
It's now looking more and more like any BRIDESMAIDS continuation will not involve Wiig. When speaking to E!, Wiig appears to resolve the issue definitively.
"We're not planning on doing one,"

"We had a special time making the first one, but we're really excited to try something else."
So, where do they go from here? If Universal proceeds with a follow-up, will they install a new actress into Wiig's role? Focus their film on an entirely new character? Or, might the picture zero in on another of the first film's extensive cast of characters? More as we know more...
