Here is something pretty darn fun, regarding the X-MEN movie site

Hey folks, Harry here with an interesting little bit that our friend Daniel found on the X-Men movie website... and he had to share it with me, and upon seeing it... I felt like I had seen the first super cool thing regarding the marketing of the X-MEN movie. I don't like the trailer, I'll get into that further down, but you might want to check out, MutantWatch.Com and you know what? I think it's clever as can be.

Meanwhile the trailer for the X-MEN movie doesn't really show any real imagination or coolness to my eyes. First, it's set to a ultra-techno beat and utilizes super fast Flash editted images. Now, this can be a cool way to advertise and sell a movie, had a single shot been COOL! But with in the entire trailer there was not one single image that impressed. The shot of Storm with the white contact lens look... well... to me that's exactly what I saw... Contact lenses, not awesome power. The eyes didn't emanate anything other than... that contact lens look for me. Then there is the potentially cool shot of Cyclops, hand to his visor, followed by a flood of red upon the image.... Now mind you... there is no concussive blast... no beam.... the screen is just reddish. I HOPE TO GOD THAT THIS SHOT WAS A TEMP SHOT, because if Cyclops isn't going to be shooting a real OPTIC BLAST through the slit in that visor of his, then this film will just suck the sweat off of flea infested donkey balls. Storm's wig continues to suck. The MATRIX-y slow motion camera sweeps... well... In that Wolverine/Sabretooth fight clip... this looked to be the worst sort of WIRE WORK I've ever seen. It seems that Wolverine is not moving according to the laws of physics (of course he is a mutant) but I've always felt that Wolverine would move a bit like liquid mercury, fast and sleek... A bit like Oliver Reed in THE THREE MUSKETEERS and THE FOUR MUSKETEERS, throwing his entire body into the battle, meanwhile executing precise and deadly strikes.

Personally... I would have been happy with a 20 second spot that featured a single character just doing something badass. Followed by a full frame of the words, "NUFF SAID," followed by a screening saying "X-MEN, evolving this summer" or something along those lines. But I wanted to be convinced of the characters... and this trailer just made me go.... ewwwww... There was no awe... no joy... no thrill... nothing of substance.

Now sure... that is just a short little minute plus trailer... months and months early... But frankly... Our asses should have been flattened by this trailer, and right now... I feel like I'd rather see any number of other films this summer... But... perhaps that is just me.
