I have no idea where this came from, the source said they found this on another page, they didn't say which page. So if this appeared on your page, let me know, I edited out the front of it. But anyway this came from an actor that worked on SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. This was sent in from the Footnoteless Supplier...
Yes, I can tell you it was an experience of a lifetime just being on the same set as Tom Hanks and my favourite director Spielberg. The location was Wexford in Ireland where there's a huge strip of beach identical to Normandy. Dreamworks SKG moved there primarily because the British Army would not for some stupid reason, release the required amount of soldiers to be used as extras. However the Irish army obliged. I'm not a soldier myself, I lost my leg in a car accident which is why I and about 10 others where chosen to be ''special extras'' (wounded soldiers)
There's a scene where Tom Hanks bursts into a German bunker and wipes out everyone (I'm wounded before he does this as a grenade is lobbed in so I'm the only one left 'alive'). I can honestly say that was probably the best day of my life. Hanks even apologised to me for accidentally kicking me. I wanted to say something like 'getting kicked by you Tom is ok' but I was too tongue-tied. Hanks and Spielberg are both brilliant guys. Spielberg is always so focused and creative.
The set itself was amazing (concrete bunkers, machine gun nests, tanks, anti-tank defences). The special effects will be unbelievable.
