Orgazmo

Since I was working that shift I got to see all of the Midnight viewings which tended to be particularly odd. The most popular, by far, with the audience was "Orgazmo." An odd little film about a Morman missionary in LA who (and it's hard to explain how) ends becoming a porn star so that he can afford that expensive Mormon temple wedding. There were some quite amusing moments, but it tended to aim for the fart joke/potty humor level which got a little tireing.

Well, I'm glad it's over. This year was my first time volunteering for the Festival and it sounded like a lot more fun when I signed up than what it turned out to be. I think my main problem was that i was juggling my volunteer hours with work and school and then also trying to fit in some time to see movies as well. The perks of volunteering are okay. I got a pass to the whole Festival, this doesn't gaurantee entry to the films, it just allows you to get on the wait list and see them for free. Also there was a bunch of sponser stuff that we received. I got an official Gap Sundance Fleece, down jacket and hat. I was a walking billboard. Plus all the Gap Sundance water I could drink. Our passes also allowed us access to all the party's but since i was working the late/midnight shift I never got to go to one. I think that if I volunteer for next year I would make sure that I was doing nothing else. I've come out of it really exhausted, behind at school, and a little dissappointed that I didn't get to see everything I wanted.

I really didn't network a whole lot mostly because I just got sick watching it. I got really tired of people asking which screening to go to based on which stars and "important" people would be in attendance. And the whole business of swapping cards even though most people have no intention of ever talking to you again. I did get to meet Parker Posey, which was a highlight. Not only is she gorgeous but very gregarious. My friend and I asked her if she got tired of being told she was brilliant and she said "No."

So all in all it wasn't bad. This is just a kind of gloss over of the whole experience. If you want more details feel free to email and ask some specific questions.
