Harrison Ford Is In ENDER'S GAME!

Nordling here.

I had high hopes for COWBOYS AND ALIENS, and I did like Harrison Ford's performance in it, but the further we come from that movie the more it fades from memory.  But if nothing else, I'm glad that he's back and it has just been confirmed by Variety that Ford will be in the adaptation of ENDER'S GAME, directed by Gavin Hood.

Ford will be playing Colonel Hyram Graff, the gruff, taciturn trainer of Ender and the kids at the military academy.  Asa Butterfield has already been confirmed as Ender, and Ben Kingsley and Abigail Breslin have also signed on to the film.

I read ENDER'S GAME about 15 or so years ago, but I don't remember it very well except the ending, which if done right will be somewhat of a sucker punch for the audience (even though it's the kind of ending that we've seen a lot in science fiction films since then).  I may have to pick it up again in anticipation of the film, and I'm curious if Orson Scott Card's saga will continue in movies after ENDER'S GAME.  That book was considered fairly light sci-fi fare but the sequels are definitely more cerebral and even more epic in scope.

But I digress.  We get Ford back into the science fiction genre, and I think Graff is a role that he'll fill quite nicely.  What say you, Talkbackers?

Nordling, out.
