George Miller's Sixth (!) MAD MAX Script ‘Almost Finished’!!

I am – Hercules!!

Doug Mitchell, who has served as “Mad Max” mastermind George Miller’s producing partner since “Beyond Thunderdome,” tells the Australian Finacial Review that Miller has almost completed a screenplay for a sixth big-screen “Mad Max” adventure, one that would follow “Fury Road” and “Furiosa.”

“We started with [Fury Road], but we then started to do a second story and a third,” Mitchell tells AFR. “We’ve written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to, they were part of the exploration of the characters.”

The long-delayed “Mad Max: Fury Road,” starring Tom Hardy (“Inception”), is scheduled to finally start shooting in April.

From AFR:

As for the final size of the [Fury Road] budget, “it’s confidential but it’s massive”, Doug Mitchell says. “Because the studio has so much money on the table, they did bravely step up their exposure. If you’re talking about a big film, an action film, find a budget that’s big and it’s that.”

So we may be getting a new "Mad Max" trilogy!

My cautious optimism is trying to push thoughts of  the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy out of my brain.

I am hugely encouraged by the fact that Miller hasn’t made a bad movie since he completed the original “Max” trilogy.
