Ransom Riggs's YA novel MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN is about a young man who journey's to the mysterious Welsh island of his eccentric grandfather's youth, where he discovers that the old man's wild tales of "levitating girls" and "invisible boys" might've been true. And then a monster starts following him. Or something. And there are pictures.
Sorry if I'm not doing the material justice, but I've read three summaries of the plot and they all make the novel sound kinda convoluted. But Tim Burton's a fan, and, according to Deadline, he's going to develop the book for the big screen. There's no writer attached yet, but it sounds like Burton would like to direct, which means this could be his next film after DARK SHADOWS. Hoo-ray?
The film would be Burton's first film for 20th Century Fox since his remake of PLANET OF THE APES.
