I probably shouldn't call an event that takes place the same night as my screening of THE MUPPETS a "can't-miss", but fuck it. It's Harlan Ellison. In person. If I thought I could safely PRIMER up a double between now and then, I'd already have a ticket.
So if you're not coming to THE MUPPETS next Tuesday, November 15th, I vehemently recommend that you get your ass to the Cinefamily for "The Glass Teat: Harlan Ellison on Television". The great science-fiction writer will be on hand to discuss his groundbreaking television work (e.g. "Demon with a Glass Hand" and "Soldier" for THE OUTER LIMITS; "The City on the Edge of Forever" for STAR TREK), and, most likely, fire off a stream of invective at every venal bastard who dared to compromise his scripts. Indeed, Ellison can be abrasive. But he's also enormously funny and irrefutably briliant. If you've never heard him speak, by all means go.
Tickets are a dirt-cheap $10 (free for members). The event will be moderated by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Josh Olson (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE), and will conclude with a screening of some of Ellison's greatest episodes.
