HBO says of “Peg Of Old”:
While Nucky (Steve Buscemi) enlists heavyweight champ Jack Dempsey (Devin Harjes) to promote the wireless broadcast of his upcoming fight, Jimmy (Michael Pitt) faces a decision that could shape the future of Atlantic City. Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) travels to Brooklyn for a bittersweet reunion with the family she left behind in Ireland. Irked by the arrival of Daugherty’s (Christopher McDonald) new federal prosecutor, Esther Randolph (Julianne Nicholson), Nelson (Michael Shannon) weighs his options as his personal and professional problems converge. Badly in need of support, Lucy (Paz de la Huerta) visits an old flame for a handout. Owen (Charlie Cox) settles one score, and sets his sights on a new conquest. Written by Howard Korder & Steve Kornacki & Bathsheba Doran; directed by Allen Coulter.

* Sheriff Eli Thompson, missing last week following his handling of the mayor two weeks ago, is back on the scene.
* Two characters who haven’t shared a scene since last season are reunited this week. Their reunion makes for good drama.
* Two other characters who haven’t shared a scene since last season are reunited this week. Their reunion makes for laudable nudity.
* Though Julianne Nicholson is no stranger to onscreen nudity, she remains fully clothed during her first and second “Boardwalk” episodes. She’s great anyway and quickly becomes a major presence in the series.
* This may be the biggest episode for Van Alden since he drowned a man.
* The third scene features a sitdown with Darmody, Harrow, Doyle, Lansky, Luciano, and Capone. Two people join in. Something important happens in this meeting, something Darmody doesn’t like.
* Phantom assassin Richard Harrow has one line.
* Chalky White, Arnold Rothstein and The Commodore sit this one out (all return next week).
* Owen, who makes Margaret hot, turns up very late, but he’s worth the wait.
* Expect cliffhangers and lots of trauma to one specific part of the human anatomy.
9 p.m. Sunday. HBO.
