Today I bring you another cool-as competition, this time with a limited edition prize that is sure to whet the appetites of the horror fans out there.
Ever since the controversial events that followed its world premiere at Sundance, Lucky McKee's THE WOMAN has been quite the talking point in the world of independent horror. It may be extreme, but it's brutally brilliant.
Adapted from the novel co-written by McKee and acclaimed horror novelist Jack Ketchum, THE WOMAN tells the story of a middle-class American family that, at first, seems perfectly normal. It isn't until Chris, the head of the household, captures a feral woman he finds living in the woods on a hunting trip that things take a seriously deranged turn.
After a viewing of the film, many things immediately stand out: the incredible performances of Pollyanna McIntosh as the eponymous woman, and Sean Bridgers as the authoritarian father Chris; the sheer violence of its climax; and the fantastic soundtrack by Sean Spillane, which was actually written while he was on set.
The soundtrack is now available on MP3 to download via Amazon and iTunes, but the folks at Modern Cine, the production company behind THE WOMAN, have pressed 1000 copies to suitably blood-red vinyl, each individually numbered and including full MP3 download instructions as a bonus. These extremely limited edition soundtracks are exclusively available in the UK through Rough Trade. Here's the official description:
