Hank Pym introduces Thor to The Negative Zone. Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse, Reed Richards, Nick Fury, Jane Foster, Ultron Five and Carol Danvers provide support.

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Vol. 4 brings on The Cosmic Cube, Bucky Barnes, Wolfgang Von Strucker, Karnilla, Zemo, Odin, Loki, The Abomination, The Serpent Society, The Super-Apes, Hoarfen the Ice Wolf, Amora, China’s Radioactive Man, Volstagg, Fandral, Hogun, Jack Fury’s Howling Commandos, Malekith The Accursed, The Dark Elves, The Casket of Ancient Winters, Sif more MODOK, more Black Widow, more Ultron 5, Ultron 6, Hydra, Maria Hill and Ben Grimm. And in this version Banner is silent while Hulk does all the talking.

“Lord of the Rings” fans could enjoy the final three episodes, which dispatch the gang to various components of The Nine Realms. Tony Stark hangs with Gimli-esque dwarfs while Clint Barton teams with Legolas-type elves. The season ends with Steve Rogers and a cliffhanger.

These sets remind me of the 1990s “X-Men” cartoons that introduced me to another, equally complex, corner of the Marvel universe. I believe I had more fun with these sets than “Batman: Year One.”

Until today, only the first three of the eight seasons of “Barney Miller” had been issued on DVD.
