Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
It’s been an oddly Tobe Hooper-centric run of BTS images this Halloween season. We had a look at Invaders From Mars a couple days ago and now we’re going to take a peek behind the scenes of one of his most effective movies not involving Chainsaws or Steven Spielberg.
Hooper’s Salem’s Lot adaptation is pretty gosh-darn effective, which is an even bigger accomplishment that he was able to pull off that level of creepiness in a for-all-audiences TV adaptation.
It’s those creepy kids, man. Sure, the Nosferatu homage worked well and James Mason is always great as a heavy, but those horror-show vampire kids are just evil. Why, lord, why?!?
In the giving spirit of the season I’ve got three BTS shots from Salem’s Lot for you below. You’ll see evil kids (I especially like how pissed off the kid looks in the second photo), Tobe Hooper and… well, lots of evil kids. Click to embiggen!
