Let’s go kick this Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day’s ass all over dreamland!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!

I pity the fool that talks smack about A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors. Besides having one of the most badass movie songs ever (Dokken!!!) it is by far the best sequel in the Nightmare franchise. With a young Frank Darabont and Chuck Russell contributing to the script we end up with a bizarre, creepy flick in which Freddy Krueger is still scary and you actually give a shit about the kids being tormented by him.

Freddy always balanced dark humor and serious horror as a fright icon, but it’s in Dream Warriors where I think they find that perfect middle ground between comedy and scares. After this film he’s much more of comedian, so this is kind of the last hurrah for the Freddy that was born in the first movie.

Also interesting, when watching the flick you’ll realize that while Krueger hangs over every moment he’s actually barely in the movie. Instead the threat of Freddy is worked into the tone of the movie. It’s a much smarter film than it gets credit for and one of my favorite ‘80s horror flicks. And it has Laurence “Don’t Call Me Larry” Fishburne in it!

Today we’re going to look at what went into the very memorable kill of one Ms. Penelope Sudrow. Death via TV! There’s a whole series of shots showing how that sequence was set up.

Much thanks to make-up man Mark Shostrom for sharing his personal collection with us. You can read about his adventures in the industry at his blog. Click all to embiggen!
