AMC has greenlit to series “Talking Dead,” a live “Walking Dead”-focused half-hour chat show that will air after “Walking Dead” encores beginning Oct. 16 (the date “Walking Dead’s” second season launches).
The show is reportedly modeled after Bravo’s “Watch What Happens: Live,” which airs after Bravo's reality programming.
Word is if it works for “Dead,” AMC could start doing similar weekly aftershows for “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad,” “The Killing” and so on.
Former “Singled Out” host and current “Nerdist” blogger Chris Hardwick, who also hosts G4’s “Web Soup,” will host the talk show.
One individual not expected to participate on the talk show is former “Walking Dead” mastermind Frank Darabont (writer-director of “The Shawshank Redmption,” “The Green Mile” and “The Mist”). Darabont was fired as showrunner this summer and replaced by Glen Mazzara (creator and original showrunner of Starz’ widely and deservedly reviled TV version of “Crash”).
Instead of Darabont, expect to see lots of Robert Kirkman, who wrote the “Walking Dead” comics and remains on AMC's payroll, talking about how smoothly everything’s been running since Darabont’s departure.
