Dr Soran here, sent in the following 'scoop' on the Star Trek 9 film. Problem is Dr Soran is a first timer. Any confirmations out there? The 'scoop' does contain spoilers, and just to give you Star Trek fans the same respect I give the Star Wars fans I will place a countdown from 10. I warned you, now here we go...
First time spy here with some of the buzz regarding Star Trek 9. You can call me Dr. Soran. Here are soem tidbits regarding the next installment:
It has to do with an advanced alien race called the Son'a. Riker does not get promoted to Captain, but is in command of the Enterprise for part of the movie. His romance in the movie will be Deanna Troi. Picard spends a significant portion of the movie in the Captain's Yacht. Data "runs amok" on the Son'a planet's surface in the first part of the movie. We are not sure why until the Enterprise retrieves him. It turns out that Data was attacked, and the trauma (and perhaps the planet affects him, too?) has caused Data to revert to some basic programming- "protectig the innocent" (the Son'a?). Data is repaired and is restored to normal for the remainder fo the movie.
I consider my source to be very relaible, since they had an accurate First Contact synopsis VERY early. I understand that you will be skeptical. I still think they are rushing the production of a sequel following the great success fo First Contact, but.... I just hope for the best. Piller did write "Best of Both Worlds" after all. I'll keep on the lookout.
