The Coolest Toys In All The Land!!!!

FOlks, Harry here. From time to time there is news from around this great big wonderful world that isn't to be about things projected upon a movie screen that .... Well, I simply must scream out to the world. If there is one solely cool company on the face of the planet Earth... it is McFarlane Toys. Throughout my house I have entire sets of I do believe every toy they have ever made (except that Michael Myers where some dummy painted the EYES in the mask so that it wasn't just dark blackness!!!!) Well, they've just announced the complete rundown of their next six figures for their MOVIE MANIACS III set. And... described which versions specifically they are creating. From Rob Bottin to Stan Winston to Kurt Russell to Bruce Campbell and Cronenberg... You'll smile upon seeing these.... You can see an early shot of the Snake Plissken figure at this place right here!!!

And the Sixth Movie Maniac Is?

January 25, 2000

The Thing, version II, will be the sixth figure for the Movie Maniacs III line in 2000. Based on John Carpenter's remake of the classic 1951 sci-fi/horror flick, the monster in "The Thing" had no real form (it took the shape of whatever it consumed). So McFarlane Toys has created two separate action figures based on crucial scenes in the film.

The first Thing figure is the Blair monster, the huge main creature at the end of the film.

The second is the Norris monster that bursts from a dead character's chest and is summarily burned to a crisp in the movie. This figure will be packaged with the multi-legged, disembodied head creature from the film.

OOOOOOOhhhhh Baby. I'm so about buying these!

The other four figures in Movie Maniacs III are:

Ash, the swashbuckling anti-hero from Sam Raimi's "Army of Darkness." Ash will be packaged with a mini-evil Ash from the film, a shotgun, chainsaw, gauntlet glove and the Book of the Dead.

Alright... I can see this... But I want some EVIL DEAD 2 stuff as well. Like... The old witch in the basement with 'LAUNCHING EYEBALL ACTION!!!' Or Ballerina Deadyte Ash Girlfriend with removable limbs and head! Or Possessed Ash! This is a good start though!

Edward Scissorhands, based on the title character of Tim Burton's stunning 1990 film. This highly articulated action figure captures both the innocence and potential for violence inside Edward Scissorhands as he tries to cope with his disability: scissors for fingers.

HARRY NOTE: Alright NOW... In the next package... How about ED WOOD figures!!! Pink Angora Sweater, Skirt wearing ED WOOD.... Tor Johnson Figure, Vampira Figure and Heroin addicted Bela Lugosi with Hungarian Hand Articulation!

Snake Plissken, based on the Kurt Russell character from "Escape from L.A.," John Carpenter's followup to "Escape from New York." Snake is totally stylin' with his eye patch, holster, two handguns, a shotgun and a removable long overcoat.

Alright... I'll let this one be, but... I want Snake Plissken from ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK vs DUKE OF NEW YORK A # 1!!!!

The Fly, from the 1986 David Cronenberg classic movie, gives new meaning to "ironing the bugs out." Ambitious young scientist Seth Brundle has created a teleportation machine. He tests the device on himself, but a common housefly gets into the portal with him. The computer somehow synthesizes Brundle's DNA with that of the fly, creating a new species, Brundlefly. It starts slowly, but Brundle eventually devolves into a four-legged housefly with sticky limbs and acidic vomit. And The Fly action figure comes complete with a custom drool base. Look for all six Movie Maniacs in stores this fall.

I do believe... that the exact moment I possess my very own Brundlefly... the only thing that will make my life complete will be my very own Pregnant Geena Davis figure with removable MaggotChild!!! Oh... And he's doing AKIRA toys!!!!

"In choosing characters for the line, McFarlane Toys started with "Akira," the film that helped introduce the animé style to mainstream America. The line of action figures will include Tetsuo, the protagonist of the film who is the subject of government experiments empowering him with telekinetic powers, and Keneda, Tetsuo's childhood friend. We will also produce Keneda's awesome red motorcycle from the film."
