AMC says of 4.9, titled “Bug”:
Skyler's past mistakes come back to haunt her. Gus takes action to thwart his rivals. Jesse seeks Walt's help, with mixed results.
What did Steven Bauer’s character mean last week when he told Gus Fring he was sparing his life “because I know who you are”? Is Gus the once-beloved bastard son of Augusto Pinochet? You’ll find no clues in this week’s installment
Though it’s titled “Bug,” tonight’s episode is nothing like “Fly.” It includes at least one crazy moment of “Holy cow, what the fuck is Gus Fring doing now?”
More in the text invisible.
* Tonight’s installment is Saul-free.
* The past mistakes that return to haunt Skyler are different than the ones I expected. Those who believe she’s gained weight may be excited to hear she uses a scale this week.
* The wordless teaser features shots of eyeglasses and bloody moccasins. The blood, we will learn by episode’s end, belongs to a character who’s gotten far more screen time than Gale Boetticher.
* The clip above is taken from the episode’s first dialogue sequence.
* In one of the episode’s best scenes, a pissed-off Walt turns the police against the Gus Fring organization.
* We learn this week Jesse enjoys a History Channel series that has little to do with history.
* Walter phone dialogue: “Really explosive.”
* Mike dialogue: “Run and so forth.”
* When this episode ends, I pondered how misleading these two logline statements might be:
1) “Gus takes action to thwart his rivals.”
2) “Jesse seeks Walt's help, with mixed results.”
