Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Men in suits! Men in suits! Big monkey and big lizard together at last in this column! Today we have a shot from the making of King Kong Vs. Godzilla, the first time either monster were filmed in color. Not that you’d know it from the black and white photo below, but an interesting bit of trivia nonetheless.
Unless I’m mistaken, and I often am, the trio featured front and center are King Kong, director Ishiro Honda and Godzilla. I mean, I know the monsters, I’m just not positive on the director. Either that’s Honda or it’s Godzilla’s drunk uncle.
UPDATE: It has been pointed out to me that the below human amongst the monsts is noneother than Eiji Tsuburaya, well-known Toho special effects director!
It’s a nice shot of some vintage Toho monster madness. Hope you enjoy! Click to embiggen.
