Nordling here.
I don't see much physical resemblance myself, but I don't know what Karl Rove looked like in his younger years. But Paul Dano will be playing Rove for Richard Linklater's COLLEGE REPUBLICANS, according to The Wrap. The film is about when Karl Rove and Lee Atwater met in college (hence the title) and how between the two of them they changed how dirty politics is done forever. In today's current climate it seems a miracle this movie's even getting made, especially since Linklater will be shooting it in Austin, Texas.
Linklater's always been a fascinating filmmaker - I think his BEFORE SUNRISE and BEFORE SUNSET are two of the most romantic films ever made - and of course DAZED AND CONFUSED is pretty much every Texan's life growing up, at least in the 1970s. He got that very, very right. But as for this, well, I'm sure that a certain group of people will be sharpening their knives over this particular film, never realizing that films like this aren't trying to be historically accurate so much as to present a viewpoint. You don't have to take it. But as Linklater said (according to Michael Stipe, anyway), "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy."
Nordling, out.
