Andrew looks at ME, MYSELF AND IRENE

Hey folks, Harry here with Einhorn here to spill some additional beans on the Farrelly's latest... ME, MYSELF AND IRENE. The fun part about this review is the fact that the reviewer went up to the director, started talking with him, and got permission to write a review for the site. And Farrelly being the cool geek that he is... gave him the winky winky thumbs up all clear go ahead sorta signal. So... Here'ssssssss.... Einhorn...

Ok, here goes.

I saw the movie at the the Pacific Winnetka 20 in Chatsworth, CA. The movie was basically about Jim Carrey as a Rhode Island State trooper who develops schizofreniz after holding in all his emotions. One funny scene early in the movie is when after his wedding, Jim asks his limo driver (a black midget) if he can take a check. The driver gets insulted and makes some funny references to watermelon and fried chicken before beating up Jim with nunchucks. His wife talks to the limo driver to calm him down and they both discover that they are presidents of MENSA and that the driver is working just as a 'sociological experiment' Cut to the delivery room, his wife has 3 black twins (get the connection). But Jim is in total denial and loves them just the same. Soon after, his wife tells Jim that she's running off w/the black midget and thats when Jim starts to suppress his emotions. There's some funny scenes of him watching Richard Pryor with his kids, and it flash forwards about 16 years to when they're all a lot bigger than their dad. The kids are hilarious, especially in one scene when they're discussing their quantum physics hw. Jim remarks to a friend how smart they are, and his friend says that they must have had 'good genes' Soon after this is when Jim's alternate personality comes out. Everyone used to simply shit on Jim all the time, but then he can't take it anymore and causes a lot of trouble, which is hilarious. When Jim is in is other personality it seems like he's somewhat channelling fire marshall bill from his In Living Color days. Thats just the beginning of the film, and I really wouldn't want to ruin the rest for you, since it's very very funny.

I think this movie is up to the same level as 'There's Something About Mary.' After the movie I started talking to the director and even though I had signed an agreement disallowing me from discussing the film, he gave me permission to post a review up on Aint-It-Cool-News. Peter Farelly was a nice guy, and I told him that in my opinion this movie had to be a hit. The story got a bit confusing at times, but in this case the story only exists to propel the gags, which were absolutely hilarious. Jim's 3 black sons were my favorite characters, I surely hope to see them again in other films. Thats about all.

Einhorn.
