I see COWBOYS & ALIENS tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it, judging from reaction at Comic-Con. I've heard differing opinions but what most everyone seems to agree on is that Harrison Ford does a terrific job and he's got the spark back in his eyes. Maybe Westerns, or at least playing Western icons, are the way to go for Ford, who has just signed on to play Wyatt Earp in BLACK HATS, according to Hollywood Reporter.
This is a different take on the character, as Wyatt Earp goes to 1920s Hollywood in the midst of Prohibition as a private investigator and film consultant. He comes across Doc Holliday's son who is in need of some assistance, as he's gotten in deep with a young and ambitious Al Capone. It's said that Ford's interest in the project is what boosted the project and Kurt Johnstad (300) is writing the adaptation of the book by Max Allan Collins (ROAD TO PERDITION), writing under a pseudonym, Patrick Culhane.
Depending on the casting and the director, this could be a hell of a movie. Wyatt Earp against gangsters, and Ford playing Earp? Count me in. Sounds like I'm going to have to pick this book up.
