Carl Kolchak + Johnny Depp = Big-Screen NIGHT STALKER!!

I am – Hercules!!

Johnny Depp could play Carl Kolchak in a big-screen version of “The Night Stalker,” based on the monster-hunting journalist played on TV by Darren McGavin.

The original blockbuster 1972 “Night Stalker” TV-movie was scripted by the great Richard Matheson (“The Twilight Zone,” “Star Trek,” “Duel,” “Trilogy of Terror”), based on the novel by Jeff Rice.

It eventually evolved into one of my favorite series ever, “Kolchak: The Night Stalker,” which ran a single season and featured such writers as Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale and David Chase, who went on to bigger things.

Man, I hope this doesn't delay "Pirates of the Caribbean V," which I wish was in cinemas right now.

Find all of Deadline’s exclusive, which also indicates Depp is looking to make a movie about how Paul Revere warned the British, here.
