Peter Jackson has a new HOBBIT Production Diary Video up! Time to geek the hell out!

Hey folks, Harry here...  I love these Production Diaries of Peter Jackson's.   More than any other filmmaker, he truly wishes to help folks to understand the work that goes into making a film of the magnitude of those that Tolkien has inspired.   I saw a twitter message to me stating that the 2nd VIDEO DIARY from the making of THE HOBBIT had been posted.  Watching it just makes me crave these films.   Recently watching the entirety of the Expanded Editions of LORD OF THE RINGS on Blu-Ray - just continues to make me drool for THE HOBBIT.   Thinking about the moment where Bilbo names Sting Sting, and why.    Goosebumps.   Dreaming of Smaug.  I just can not wait to see Bilbo climb a tree to see what he can see.   Riddles in the dark.   The Goblins.  Smaug.   The Spiders.   Just.  Damn it, THE HOBBIT was the first SIGNIFICANT BOOK OF LENGTH that I ever read.   I carved a Rankin/Bass SMAUG in leather and made a wallet of it for my father as a kid.   And that movie is being made.   And most of all, I can't even imagine what it'll look like, because it is literally changing everything about how film can look due to the frame-rate change, which...  I can't seriously imagine the actual visual quality that this film is being set up to deliver.   That has the film tech geek in me dying to just see a demo of how the footage will look on a screen.    But at the same time, watching a doc like this...  it puts into perspective in a not insignificant way, what it is to make a film like this.   It's a lot of crazy logistical nightmares, genuine adventures and top efforts from everyone.    There's something about these videos that make the films feel possible.  And if this is possible, really...  seriously...  what's our problem?
