Rod Serling Biopic in Development!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here.

Yeah, I know I've neglected my Light & Shadow column (in which I went episode by episode through Twilight Zone starting at S1.1). I got about halfway through the first season of Twilight Zone before I got sidetracked and left the poor bugger eating my dust. I wanted to acknowledge that to curb the "Hey, asshole! What happened to that column!?!" talkbacks and also say that the column ain't dead, just in hibernation. Look for a hopeful resurrection sometime post Comic-Con.

Rod Serling is a fascinating man and one of the most important figures in sci-fi/fantasy/horror storytelling in the history of visual storytelling. His leadership on The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery influenced not just TV, but film, writing and art for generations and is still inspiring up and comers. Serling was a hell of a writer and an icon of a personality.

So it's no surprise to me that his life story is being developed as a feature film. Wall Street's Stanley Weiser is writing the screenplay for first time director Andrew Meieran to direct. Serling's wife, Carol, will be producing.

The project is in development, which is a delicate stage and anything can happen, but I'm pulling for this one. Who to cast as Serling? For some reason Sam Rockwell was the first to jump to mind. What do you folks think?
