Hey folks, Harry here...
Sorry for the silence on the site today. Nordling is underwater in his secret identity, Merrick has succumbed to pnuemonia, Quint is playing board games and Beaks is at an annual orgy. Me, well like most days it was filled with Rehab, doctor appointments - oh and birthday shopping for my nephew's 11th... and due to all the editors being - well occupied, sick or overworked... we missed the big THOR 2 news story that Michael Fleming broke earlier today. Drew McWeeny confirmed with Marvel that the actual date for release in 2013 is July 26th, essentially the CAPTAIN AMERICA spot.
The biggest news of all is that Kenneth Branagh will not be returning. This is frankly a bit of a bummer to me. I love THOR, can not wait for it to hit on Blu Ray. Those that dismissed the film, I feel had pretty much done so before seeing the film. I've seen it about 5 times now and every single time, the relationships between characters strengthen and are more powerful. That is Branagh. He really sold the emotion of the film - especially with Thor and Loki.
Hopefully, they'll find a great director to replace him. More than that, it'd be a dream if they just were able to hire Protosevich to write a full-on Asgardian adventure with zero connection to Earth. Deepen the characters, heighten the adventure even more... Give us a film that nobody that saw the first would necessarily expect. Bring in Surtur - do him huge, give us Mephisto or the Midgard Serpent. Let's break this thing from being a Marvel Superhero film into what it really needs to be which is a full on MARVEL FANTASY EPIC! Let's see Ragnarok!
At least that's my dream. What's yours?
