Ron Howard To Adapt SPY VS. SPY!

Nordling here.

I remember reading that one of John Woo's biggest inspirations for his 80s and 90s action-fests was Mad Magazine's "Spy Vs. Spy," and I always thought he'd be a perfect director for a live-action film, considering he's done it already in THE KILLER and FACE/OFF.  So now that Ron Howard and David Koepp are attached to the project, I'm a little concerned that they make take it "serious".

For those not familiar with SPY VS. SPY - how in the hell can you not be familiar with it? - a spy all in black and a spy all in white looked for funny and inventive ways to kill each other.  They've inspired pretty much everyone - what's "Itchy and Scratchy" if not Spy. Vs. Spy bumping uglies with Tom and Jerry - and what was fun about them was the innovative ways the white spy would foil the black one.  Howard doesn't seem like the first director to come to mind for the film, and with this, DARK TOWER, and the Formula 1 racing film RUSH, it's looking like Howard won't be unemployed any time soon.

Nordling, out.
