Bob And Archer Made Flesh!! Herc’s Seen Comedy Central’s JON BENJAMIN HAS A VAN!!

I am – Hercules!!

It’s a sketch show from Funny Or Die and the guy who gives voice to Bob on “Bob’s Burgers” and Archer on “Archer.”

You'll find some funny stuff to be sure; there’s a gag involving international borders that’s sort of genius. But there’s also stuff like the the sketch about a guy who lost his voice after joining the military that just doesn’t go anywhere.

USA Today says:

… One show I've been digging is Comedy Central's Jon Benjamin Has a Van …

The New York Times says:

… the centerpieces of the show are sketches that cleverly unravel, filling the second half of each episode with long, absurd narratives starring billionaires dressed as hobos, drug lords with passport problems, and thimble-size gangsters (who live, natch, in Little Little Italy). These detours make the show something more interesting than a fake-news or prank-show clone …

The Washington Post says:

… disappointingly unfunny … filled with weak attempts at sketch comedy, resulting in a few funny moments here and there, but not enough. …

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says:

… often funny … It's a strange show and I'm sure some people won't find it funny at all. But if you have just enough of a cracked sense of humor, it's worth giving "Jon Benjamin Has a Van" a try. …

HitFix says:

… unfortunately, very little of it works. … The problem is that what Benjamin and company keep doing in place of the premise is repetitive in the extreme: one sketch after another built around a single joke, stretched past the point where even "SNL" might feel pangs of comedy writer's remorse. …

The Boston Globe says:

… These guys come up with twisted shorts and one longer and even more twisted feature per episode, some of them actual man-on-the-street interviews, some of them scripted, and most of them funny. … The show moves along at the clip of a grouping of “Funny or Die’’ sketches, or of Comedy Central’s Web send-up, “Tosh.0.’’ …

10 p.m. Tuesday & Wednesday. Comedy Central.
