You Want GREEN LANTERN Clips? We Got GREEN LANTERN Clips! (8 Of 'Em!)

Nordling here.

The push is on.  GREEN LANTERN had its first screening this weekend, and based on Twitter anyway, the response was positive.  People tend to respond with their gut when they come out of screenings like that, and especially on Twitter where they only have the 140 characters to talk about it - "Awesome" was the word thrown around a lot, from what I read.

I have a high level of anticipation for this one.  I see it the Wednesday before it opens, and apparently they just finished the effects work last week.  And now Warner Brothers has released 8 clips from the film, and I'm really liking a lot of it.  Thanks to Drew McWeeny and HitFix.com for the Youtube embeds - I'm still winging it when it comes to this tech stuff, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

In Clip 1 we see Hal prepping for flight, and Blake Lively berating him for being late.  Of all the cast, she's the one that I think people have the most misgivings about, but honestly she seemed fine to me in this clip, which we saw quite a bit of in the original trailer:

This next clip shows Hal flying in a training sortie with Lively's character, call name Sapphire:

A crash-landed Abin Sur (Temuera Morrison) gives Hal the ring, and sets him on his path:

"By the power of Greyskull!"  I quite like Ryan Reynolds in this part, myself.  I think his humor offsets the  strangeness of enerything else.  He's the audience surrogate, and I think he does a good job of walking that fine line:

Here we see Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) with Abin Sur's body, and a new discovery awaits:

I love this scene.  It shows Hal enjoying his powers and I think his giddiness at flying is contagious:

Sinestro (Mark Strong) pumps up the troops:

And now we get to see Green Lantern use his powers, and I love the crazy gadgetry he comes up with.  Looks like Hal Jordan watched some Looney Tunes in preparation for his role:

Not bad, Warners, not bad.  We'll see how this all plays out in a week and a half.  GREEN LANTERN opens June 17th.  Can't wait.

Nordling, out.
