Hey folks, Harry here. Right now... there are three bits of casting that I think everyone is sort of anxious to hear where it goes. The first is probably Anakin Skywalker, the next being Peter Parker/Spider-Man and then the other is the replacement for Jodie Foster in HANNIBAL. The only difference is... in another week and a half, Universal will reach a decision on whether to cast someone new... or simply drop the property all together. Personally... I hope the project goes forward. I'm very interested in where Ridley Scott takes this film. Out of these two actresses... both of which HAVE read for the part... I'd have to say I would be more interested in seeing Hillary Swank take the role. But that's just me I suppose. Here ya go...
Harry,
In case you're interested, www.iFUSE.com has got confirmation that Hillary Swank ("Boys Don't Cry") has been reading for Ridley Scott for "Hannibal." Story below. Link at: Click here to read story about Hillary Swank and Clarice Starling
And here's the piece on Cate Blanchett being up for the role...
Hey there, Harry -
I'm a long devoted fan of your site - Being an Aussie, there's not that much focus on hollywood gossip, so it's good to log onto your page every day. Reading "The Advertiser" - An Adelaide Newspaper, I came across this - I don't know if it's news to you (probably not) but I thought you'd find it interesting all the same.

~BLANCHETT WOOED FOR KEY ROLE~
Australian actress Cate Blanchett is the frontrunner to play one of the most applauded roles in modern movie history. Blanchett is being wooed by a major United States studio to take the role of FBI agent Clarice Starling, a part made famous by Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster in the 1992 movie hit "Silence of the Lambs". If she accepts the offer, an assignment believed to be worth $7.6 million, Blanchett will play Starling in the sequel - a horror drama entitled "Hannibal".
Sir Anthony Hopkins, who made Lambs serial killer Hannibal Lecter one of his signature roles, is a strong probability to take the lead role in the sequel.
Hopkins reportedly "loves the script" and may sign on for $22.8 million. The offer to Blanchett comes amid a desparate scramble by movie studio Universal to find a replacement for Foster, who bailed our of the Hannibal project last week in favor of a directors job on another film. In Los Angeles last night, Blanchett's spokeswoman said the actress was considering the Starling role. But she was also committed this year to "The Gift", opposite Keanu Reeves, and "Lord of the Rings" with eccentric Kiwi film-maker Peter Jackson.
