FORD close to signing for new Jack Ryan role.

Long time Ford informant, Templer, has returned to file the following newsy report with Father Geek. It covers alot of ground so I'll just let Templer do all the talking...

.....Templer here. What I have today isn't a behind-the-scenes scoop on an upcoming film, rather it is the neatest of the neatest, the coolest of the coolest, the awesome of the awesome news concerning my favorite actor, well, hell, People's Choice Award winner for "Favorite Motion Picture Actor," Harrison Ford.

It's been a while since I have submitted anything to you and your wonderful site for posting, but, this was so special, I felt I just had to send it to you.

I gotta tell ya, these past two days have been wonderful for both Harrison Ford & his fans around the world. First, history's most successful worldwide leading man in film wins the "Favorite Motion Picture Actor" Award again at the latest People's Choice Awards ceremony this past Sunday evening. Then it is announced Monday morning that both Harrison Ford & his manager will be joining a major Hollywood management agency. Harrison Ford has not belonged with an agency in 15 years and since then has been represented independently by his manager, the great Pat McQueeney. Harrison Ford has been Ms. McQueeney's sole client for thirty years now. This move though, will reportedly bring a great new pick of roles to Harrison Ford's desk and it is speculated that it will help expand Harrison's horizons in addition to presenting a good way to generate better access to independently made material and young filmmakers of today and tomorrow.

And now to top these two days off comes some more upbeat news...

This morning, in an article discussing Harrison Ford & his manager's move to a Hollywood agency, Variety reported that Harrison Ford will decide in early February whether or not he approves of the latest script revision of the film adaptation of the Tom Clancy bestseller "The Sum of All Fears." Mr. Ford's commitment is pending a script polish by Oscar-nominated writer Paul Attanasio ("Donnie Brasco," "Quiz Show") due early next month. Attanasio is currently revising the 1st-draft version of screenwriter Akiva Goldsman's script.

'Fears' will be Harrison Ford's third outing as the CIA operative Jack Ryan. Ford's two previous efforts as Agent Ryan have brought in an astounding near $400 Million Dollars combined at the Box Office.

This morning Variety confirmed additionally that "The Sum of All Fears" will be directed by Philip Noyce ("Patriot Games," "Clear & Present Danger") and produced by Mace Neufeld (producer of all Jack Ryan films).

Akiva Goldsman, in an interview late last year with Eon Magazine, claimed that the film is now currently in preproduction. If Harrison Ford does accept the script, the only question will be: when will the film go into Prin. Photography production? Variety reported in November that both Mace Neufeld and Paramount Pictures are eager to have production rolling in late winter or early spring of this year with hopes that they will have the adventure/thriller starring Harrison Ford hitting the big screens by Fall 2000.

Let's all keep our fingers crossed. After the last couple of romantic films from Mr. Ford, having the possibility of Harrison Ford appearing in two sure-to-be hit thrillers, "What Lies Beneath" & "The Sum of All Fears," it wouldn't hurt everyone's favorite big screen actor in the least bit to make this a reality.

These fingers are crossed that we will be seeing the further adventures of CIA man Jack Ryan this year in addition to the highly anticipated Summer 2000 Robert Zemeckis horror film "What Lies Beneath."

I'm eagerly excited to see both of these films this year. I hope it becomes a reality. And I'm sure many others do as well. If anyone knew how excited I really am...

Thank you Harry! And please take care.
