Hey folks, Harry here with the latest on the cinematic landscape of one Clive Barker as detailed by Smilin' Jack Ruby. Hmmm... I think I'm going to see if I can get my claws on this BOOKS OF BLOOD script... Hmmm... I'll see what I can do folks, till then... here's our smilingest spy...
Hey Harry,
After the success of last year's adaptation of "Father of Frankenstein" by Bill Condon which became "Gods and Monsters," Clive Barker (who was one of the executive producers) is re-teaming with Condon to do an anthology movie for three of Barker's short stories. The film will be called "Books of Blood" after the short story collections that launched Barker's career and the three stories used will be, "Pig Blood Blues," "Human Remains," and "Dread," each to be directed by a different director, one of which is contributing journalist to "the Advocate," Christopher Landon who wrote the recent article in the magazine on Mr. Barker. Condon will be writing and directing the wrap-around segment of the movie and will likely, alongside Barker, be supervising the entire piece in some capacity.
Barker, whose next directing picture will likely be "American Horror" for New Line, told me that he has two more books to deliver before he begins work on that (one of the books is rumored to be a new "Books of Blood" collection). Barker also apparently has a deal with Universal to develop three different Edgar Allan Poe stories in the vein of his short story, "The New Murders in the Rue Morgue."
Should be interesting.
