Deadline Hollywood reports that Fox singing competition “X-Factor” will reunite Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell as judges.
The pair, of course, judged “American Idol” back when “Idol” was earning much higher ratings.
Deadline says Abdul’s contract was closed only hours before “X-Factor’s” first taping, which was slated to begin 1 p.m. Sunday in Los Angeles.
Abdul left “Idol” in 2009 over a salary dispute. Her subsequent competition reality show, “Live To Dance,” was quickly cancelled this year after a short season as one of CBS’ lowest-rated series.
Cowell and Abdul will be joined at the “X” judges table by veteran music producer/songwriter/exec L.A. Reid and 27-year-old British model/pop star (and British “X-Factor” judge) Cheryl Cole.
The show’s two hosts are British former model Steve Jones and 32-year-old model-actress-dancer-songwriter and Pussycat Dolls lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger.
The first American season of "X-Factor" premieres this autumn on Fox.
