The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day used to believe in many things. Now it only believes in dynamite.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!

I’ve only just recently seen Duck, You Sucker (aka A Fistful of Dynamite). I realized I had been putting off watching it for much the same reason I put off watching Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon: I wanted there to still be a vintage Leone Western out there that I hadn’t seen yet. Lyndon was my last Kubrick to watch and I did so with a certain level of sadness knowing there’d never be a new Kubrick experience for me.

So, I gave A Fistful of Dynamite a watch with that in mind and I did feel a little of that same sadness, but that was made up by Leone’s trademark visual brilliance and two truly fantastic leading performances from James Coburn (playing an Irish dude, an IRA explosives expert no less) and the completely unrecognizable Rod Steiger as an unexpected Mexican revolutionary hero.

I didn’t find the movie as brilliant as Once Upon A Time in the West or Leone’s Man With No Name Trilogy, but it’s definitely Leone through and through. So, I was very happy to find this picture pop up in the ol’ inbox. Not only am I happy to feature the film, but it’s a great shot of Leone, who is either a big ham or just a goofy lookin’ dude, fiddling with some dangerous tech as the crew and Coburn look on.

Hope you guys enjoy the pic, another one from reader Pat Barnett! Click to embiggen!
