Star Trek 9 and Stuart Little and Sony Imageworks!!!

Moriarity took off from the world of test screenings to scope out the ins and outs of... SONY IMAGEWORKS. Actually he sent his Bolivian Accomplice with the cool bolo to do the job. Here's what we get to find out...

Moriarity here. Just a couple of tidbits for you. First, it looks like Sony Imageworks is going to be contributing the FX for STAR TREK 9, due to ILM's being fully booked right now with that other STAR something film. Sony was chosen on the strength of the space sequences from STARSHIP TROOPERS, according to my source, which makes sense.

The big project that Sony is hoping to get off the ground soon, though, is an adaptation of E.B. White's childrens book, STUART LITTLE. I don't remember ever reading the book as a child, but I read the script, and it's a winner. M. Night Shmyalan (who is poised to become a M A J O R player after this and SIXTH SENSE are released) has crafted a truly beautiful little screenplay. Stuart is a very tiny mouse who is adopted by a human family. Stuart has trouble fitting in -- literally -- and his problems seem to be solved when two mice show up, claiming to be his parents. They're con artists, though, and Stuart and his human family both come to realize that no matter what size he is, he fits perfectly in their home. It's sweet, it's funny, and the character FX should be eye-popping. The script is loaded with gags that will require the full ingenuity of Sony, but I'm confident they can pull it off.

And what of BAD TROUT, the Zemeckis picture about the superintelligent trout at the Presidential fishing retreat? No progress as of right now. DAMN! DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!

But all good things come to those who wait. I hope.

Moriarity out.
