Well gosh... I guess the Eighties want to be the trend for the new millenium real bad. I mean wow... We got DIRTY DANCING II, CROCODILE DUNDEE III, RAMBO IV, COMMANDO II, and on and on and on... Isn't it time to begin starting new franchises? I mean... if you have an original idea for an old series to move into a new direction... why snap it in. Create your own franchise, give birth to new characters... find new actors and let's move forward. Now I happened to have liked the HOUSE flicks... in that 'hey let's hang out and watch HOUSE 1-4 while giggling and talking over the films' sort of way... but I don't need another. Just like I don't NEED another EXORCIST or another ROCKY or LETHAL WEAPON 5 or ID4-2 or ARMAGEDDON 2: THIS TIME IT'S AN EVEN BIGGER ROCK! Instead... let's see JOHN CARTER ON MARS or STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND or a whole sleu of films based on new ideas. Sigh... Alright... Here's the new HOUSE movie information!
Harry,
Big fan of the site, had to get this one to ya....
Heard a rumour that a British Screenwriter is working on a followup to the 1985 Horror Comedy 'House' which starred William Katt..
By that i mean that it follows up the characters of the original movie - 'House' and abandons the sequels - which were of course nonsense.
Apparently, the film will not be called 'House 5' but will have an independant 'House'-based title that i am unable to reveal at this time.
According to my source, the film is based in both California and New York and follows how successful horror author Roger Cobb and his son Jimmy (now a politician) become the targets of a cult group who seem to have strong historical links with the origins of the evil House.
With intervention from the FBI, the House is investigated by Scientists whilst the Vietnam Vet Cobb takes a more practical approach to discovering his own family demons and trying to stay alive!
It is "a story of how a dormant past is reawakened by living disciples, forcing the two men to defeat the family demons once and for all"
I do not know at this time if the draft is ready for production, but i would guess they are in contact with Ethan Wiley - the writer of the first movie, for the role of Producer.
Give you more when i can.
