More Keanu! 47 RONIN!

Nordling here.

Yeah, yeah, it's Ain't It Keanu News today...

Will we be getting a samurai renaissance?  After 13 ASSASSINS, I'm all for it.  I made the bold statement in my review that 13 ASSASSINS could stand tall in comparison with SEVEN SAMURAI, and I stand by it.  I'm not claiming it's better, mind you.  But I will say that Takeshi Miike's film is a complete and utter masterpiece, and should be experienced in a theater, but if that can't happen for you, it's available on VOD.  But I digress...

Keanu Reeves recently sat down with MTV, and not only did they discuss the future of BILL AND TED, but Reeve's upcoming 3D samurai film 47 RONIN based on the Japanese historical tale.  Now, Keanu isn't Japanese, but he will be playing a half-breed outcast who falls in love with a princess, according to the interview.  I'm sure the casting of Keanu Reeves in a very Japanese story will bring dirision, but since the rest of the cast is primarily Japanese, without Reeves' involvement the film simply would not be bankable.  Plus, director Carl Rinsch is a terrific new voice in film; if you've seen his commercials he has a hell of a good visual eye.  In short, I think 47 RONIN will be worth our time.  But here's Keanu to talk about it:

I'm all for epic samurai movies, and if Keanu's involvement makes this movie happen, I'm all for it.  Nordling, out.
